Roe v Wade: BOOOOOOOOOORINGGG

The height of intellectual dishonesty: partisan politicians judging others’ ability to be a fair judge. With grave expressions, burdened by selective concerns for legislating from the bench, senators ask infantile trick questions like:” Have you ever set a precedent?”. Why is it that the only time race or gender comes up in a supreme court confirmation hearing is when the candidate isn’t a white male conservative?

SIGH.

People want to decide for themselves, according to their own moral code. They also want to be able to change their minds. Fair enough. Unfortunately, some insist on changing others’ minds for them, and seek to impose their most recent personal revelations as legislation.

The best example of such a God complex is Norma McCorvey, a.k.a. Jane Roe from Roe vs Wade. In the original court case, the right to choose an abortion was taken from the government, and placed in her hands. She was allowed to decide for herself. Later, she changed her mind. In stead of simply not having any more abortions, she decided that from that moment on, nobody else should be allowed to have a choice anymore.

The “Pro-Life” movement avoids openly advocating the restrictions of Americans’ personal freedom, by insisting that a human is born as soon as a woman is pregnant. To accommodate the religious concept, a process is simplified to a single miraculous moment. By assuming that a human life is created instantly at the exact moment of inception, a nine month pregnancy, in which a fertilized egg is nurtured as it grows into a baby, is reduced to a formality.

Although abortion is far from an ideal means of birth control, neither are abstinence programs. As long as common sense is excluded form the debate, a promise ring guarantees a trip to the abortion clinic.
