“Skip” arrest: Uppity Negro Syndrom, or Angry Negro Syndrom?

Posted on 23. Jul, 2009 by nostraboris in Culture

Baffling how Barack jumped the gun by saying that the cop that arrested Henry Louis Gates (in the presence of a black cop) acted stupidly. Granted, it’s not the same as calling him stupid, but still.

Nobody knows what happened. Either Gates or the officer, James Crowley are lying.

Most likely, both are too blame. The cop didn’t have to arrest him. Gates on the other hand, didn’t have to go into “Black Man in America” mode instantly. The only racists are those taking a side without knowing the truth. Why does a clash between two assholes have to become a national race brawl?

Using this incident as an example of racial profiling doesn’t exactly add credibility to the cause.

A few days ago I saw Michael Eric Dyson on CNN talking about his personal experience with racial profiling. One night, a policeman pulled him over to do a sobriety test. The professor considered it racist that he still had to do the test after telling the cop he was a Baptist minister and a teetotaler.

Normally I am a fan of Dyson’s mind, but I think that in this particular instance, his ego (perception of self) grew just big enough to prevent him from taking a step back and looking at the situation. Sober white men, including myself, don’t usually manage to talk themselves out of a sobriety test.

Today Dyson is claiming the officer suffers from “Uppity Negro Syndrome”. Dyson feels that this officer would tolerate a white man getting in his face, but not a black man. Pure speculation. No different than saying Gates suffers from “Angry Negro Syndrom”, and considers any white man that has the nerve to arrest him a racist.

Applying the uppity negro principle as a rule in all White cop Black man interaction is intellectually lazy.

I am beginning to feel symptoms of “Bored Caucasian” Syndrom.

Can we get back to Health care now?
